The Environmental Education Coalition of Napa County (EECNC) formed in 2001 in response to the need to connect the local community to the environment. The initial goal of this group was to create a guide of local environmental education providers who serve Napa County teachers. As the coalition grew, the scope of EECNC expanded to include an on-line resource guide for teachers, annual coordination of Napa’s Earth Day celebration, awarding the annual Darcy Aston Environmental Advocacy Scholarship, and coordination of Environmental Education Bus Grant to fund field trips that develop the next generation of environmental stewards.
Various local organizations make up the coalition and share the responsibilities of the above tasks and goals.
EECNC activities are funded by the various organizations of which it is composed, as well as donations and event proceeds.
EECNC is fiscally sponsored by Friends of the Napa River, Inc.
